CHAPTER 6:
P.211, Exercise 2 asks readers to use Table E5-1 and estimate how many years of life were lost due to an American male who died at age 29. However Table E5-1 is a male life table for Sweden 2011. This mistake was made when we updated Table E5-1 from the prior edition, which was male life table for United States 2001. Please pretend that the deceased soldier was Swedish and died at the age of 25.
P. 212, Population figures listed in Table E6-1were incorrect.
Reported 10/23/2016 by Elyce J. Rotella of University of Michigan Ann Arbor.
CHAPTER 7:
P.269, Exercise 2 asks readers to use Table E7-2 and compute the missing rates and ratios for the "non-Hispanic Black," "Non-Hispanic Other," and "Hispanic" categories. However, the estimate provided for whites is wrong - it should be 122.8 instead of 140. Instructor's manual has been updated accordingly.
